Martin Thatcher
Managing Director, Thatchers Cider
Martin is Thatchers Cider’s fourth generation cider maker taking over the family business in 1992. He grew up on Myrtle Farm, planting his first tree at the age of 5, and has spent his whole adult life making and selling cider. Martin looks after the whole operation, from the orchards to the bottling and beyond cidermaking, through to sales and marketing.
Martin was formerly the Chair of the National Association of Cider Makers (2014-16) and during that time he prioritised lobbying those in Whitehall and Government for fair treatment of the cider industry and the differential between cider duty and other duties in how the industry performs.
He lives on the farm with his wife and their two children, Eleanor and Peter, and he is passionate that the business is sustainable for future generations.
